GP and Norlander have an in-depth conversation on this news, then lay out some (logical) names that do and don't make sense for the school to target. Elsewhere, how about Loyola Marymount? • Clemson is king of the ACC—so far; Kentucky nabs biggest win of noisy weekend; Arkansas, Zona, UConn trending ⬇️(College Basketball 01/15)

Disclaimer: Episode was taped prior to the news of Alabama's Darius Miles being arrested and charged with capital murder.

The Clemson Tigers are 7-0 in ACC play for the first time in history. This could be the best Tigers team since 1990. Elsewhere, Kentucky put a stop to its losing skid. At Arkansas, we ponder whether or not the Razorbacks can hold it together long enough to make the NCAA Tournament after a bad loss to Vanderbilt. And before we take a look at the Monday and Tuesday slate, we take a bird's eye view of the college basketball landscape that saw 11 ranked teams lose this weekend—the most in a single day in almost 12 years.

The UCLA Bruins have won 12 games in a row and feel like the favorites to win the Pac-12, so why is no one really talking about them? Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander dive into that, then touch on non-Kentucky SEC discussion and evaluate whether or not Alabama is deserving of a 1-seed, and if they still feel good about Arkansas still making the NCAA Tournament. PLUS, with only one game separating them, the guys get into their weekend Final Four And 1 picks.

South Carolina strolled into Rupp Arena and snapped Kentucky's 28-game home winning streak. Is this the sign that things have hit rock bottom in Lexington for John Calipari? YEP. • John Calipari is under siege; the story behind UNC’s escape; Zaga, Zona, Houston, Kansas with huge Ws on an epic sports weekend (College Basketball 12/18)

This weekend was an awesome one for college basketball — and the entire sports world. Norlander says it was the best of 2022. In CBB, UCLA made a statement about their title hopes with a controlling win over Kentucky. How much hot water is Calipari in right now? Also at the CBS Sports Classic, North Carolina got the win it needed against Ohio State; Norlander has the terrific backstory on the play that sent it to OT. Plus: more background on the Houston win over Virginia, Kansas' beatdown of Indiana, Arizona outlasting Tennessee, and Gonzaga overthrowing Alabama.

  • Bama upsets Houston. Arizona cruises. You buying Tennessee? Plus: Brad Underwood’s viral moment, and remembering Grant Wahl (College Basketball 12/11)

A busy weekend on the hardwood with a lot to get to, but before that: Norlander opens with a remembrance of Grant Wahl, who was one of the best writers in college basketball before he changed the way soccer was covered in America. Grant was a force, and it felt only appropriate to start the show by honoring him. From there, Kyle Boone stops by and helps Norlander break down the weekend that was. The guys start with Alabama's upset of Houston, then get to Arizona cruising past Indiana, Tennessee eking out a win over Maryland, and highlight some unusual coaching behavior: Mizzou's football coach trolling Kansas and Illinois' Brad Underwood's viral rant against his team.

  • Texas, Maryland fall from ranks of the unbeaten; Illinois, Duke walk away as big winners at the Jimmy V Classic (College Basketball 12/7)

So ... Gary Parrish is evidently highjacking the Illinois bandwagon after its win over No. 2 Texas in the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday. Norlander was on hand at the Garden and has a lot of good deets to share. Also at MSG: Duke looks its best so far under Jon Scheyer. Elsewhere on Tuesday, Maryland couldn't get it done at Wisconsin. PLUS: the guys tackle the hard-hitting issues, like whether or not you round up to the next dollar at grocery stores for charity, and whether Parrish has fixed the holes in his house yet. Texas had its way with Gonzaga on Wednesday, but Norlander and Parrish are waiting until Sunday's big game with Kentucky before making any larger statements about Gonzaga. Still: What an encouraging W for Texas, which should be in the thick of the Big 12 chase. Elsewhere: Arizona State made Hunter Dickinson look foolish and Michigan even worse. Those Champions Classic games were awesome, right?! Gary and Matt break down the Michigan State 2OT upset of No. 4 Kentucky. Plus, GP ranks Sparty in a spot you wouldn't believe! • Opening weekend takeaways: Zags rally vs. Sparty; Emoni Bates goes off; 3 ranked teams upset: Vols, Nova, Oregon (College Basketball 11/13)

The first weekend of the college basketball season is done. So, what did we learn? Well, Gonzaga can win on an aircraft carrier, for one. (Michigan State is now 0-2 on huge ships.) Parrish and Norlander open on Friday night's big game, then turn their attention to Emoni Bates' huge game and near-win against Michigan. Three ranked teams were unseated over the weekend, too. Which was the most concerning: Nova falling to Temple, Oregon losing to UC Irvine or Tennessee getting run by Colorado? Norlander also has a whiparound of notable results, including some love for the SWAC. The guys close with a preview of Tuesday's slate, led by the Champions Classic.

Let's talk about the first two days of the season. Largely duds, right? What's that about? Norlander has some more background to know, while Parrish lays out the practical items that have to be prioritized in seasons moving forward. Beyond that, the guys get into the teams that did face embarrassing upsets and the ones who narrowly escaped. There's also a good Trivia Time! baked into the episode near the end.

  • Huge show: Louisville dodges the hammer, Kansas suspends Bill Self, Gonzaga-Big 12 rumors (College basketball 11/03)

The college basketball news machine is working fast and furious ahead of Monday's season-openers. First, Louisville's IARP case is in — and there's nothing much to the punishment. Should that give schools like Kansas, Arizona and LSU hope in their IARP cases? Matt Norlander and Gary Parrish discuss. Additionally, Kansas announced a four-game suspension to start the season for Bill Self (and other punishments). Where does this put KU going into 2023? And another big headline: Gonzaga's AD recently met with the Big 12 commissioner. But Norlander explains why that doesn't mean a merger is imminent. The guys lay out Gonzaga's case for being in the Big 12, Pac-12, Big East ... and maybe just staying put in the WCC.

  • Happy Halloween 🎃: Our best-of-the-rest deep dive highlights dozens of standout teams and Cinderella candidates from mid-major conferences

We're wrapping our conference-preview portion of the preseason with a wide scan of all the best teams from outside the seven major conferences. Obviously, Gonzaga is the big (bull)dog, but there are two other preseason top 25-level teams worth knowing about: San Diego State and Dayton. Norlander and Parrish go well beyond those three, though, highlighting the teams with viable at-large hopes and laying out nearly 20 other mid-majors poised to have good seasons in '22-23. The bonus: we've got a this-or-that Halloween candy-themed segment to wrap today's episode.

Read Norlander's Best of the Rest preview here.

Shake Shack or Chick-Fil-A? Of course it's our SEC preview. And you need to answer that question. The favorites reside in Lexington but will have a multitude of challengers coming for the throne. Will the revamped roster in Arkansas or the Knoxville faithful make a deep run? Parrish sets the over/under 6.5 teams making the NCAA Tournament. Our longest conference preview pod yet, with a few unexpected tangents toss in. Plus: Norlander's top 101 teams in college casketball.

The Pac-12 will be won by UCLA, or so say Parrish and Norlander. Arizona is a clear No. 2, followed by Oregon and then USC. After that ... it's a foggy mess. Our dive into what to expect out West is here. As is a debate, obviously, about which Carolina is the superior Carolina.
